For more than twenty years, I’ve taken on a series of assignments at Allegis Group, serving as the company’s president since 2016. Truth be told, I’ve spent most of that time thrust into uncomfortable situations, pretty convinced that I wouldn’t be up for the challenge. At every turn, someone believed in me more than I believed in myself, and I was at least smart enough to realize I didn’t have to have the answers. In fact, my job has been to ask good questions, identify really talented people who can answer those questions, and largely get out of their way. In many ways, this professional journey has mirrored my personal journey. After being cut from the 8th and 9th grade basketball teams, I bought some headgear and showed up for my first wrestling practice. Through the years, I’ve seen my share of failures (including losing 20 wrestling matches that first year) but have come to embrace the Nelson Mandela adage: “I never lose. I either win or I learn.” My current mission: Be a great ancestor. I want to do what I can to ensure Allegis Group continues to offer motivated, talented people the opportunity to grow and develop and find fulfillment. I want people to realize how much others believe in them and watch those people accomplish more than they thought possible.
