After receiving a bachelor's degree in apparel design and learning garment construction I started my career in accessories design with small leather goods and handbags. Working in a small office I was able to quickly learn how to source materials, professionally communicate with vendors overseas and become more knowledgeable within Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and become detail oriented with making specs that are sent out to overseas Vendors. Making a career change into product development I gained a stronger skill set with excel creating charts as well as experience in tracking samples, following up with vendors, checking samples, flex PLM, creating and updating BOMs, flex pulls etc. Having both a design and production development background helps bring better communication within the different teams as well as aiding teams in ways to work smarter, not harder.
