Independent Senior Consultant
Adaptive Biotechnologies offers research and diagnostic tools for scientists and clinicians involved in genomic immunology.
I am currently SVP, Translational Medicine at Adaptive Biotechnologies, Inc. I am involved in the development, execution, and interpretation of studies demonstrating the clinical utility of immune receptor repertoire profiling, the reporting of assay results to clinicians requesting the assay for patient management, and the development, refinement, and QA/QC for the LDT and future IVD.I had managed the Amgen Oncology Research site in Seattle, Washington (AWA). AWA Oncology was a very productive, innovative, and contributory site for the Amgen pipeline not only in terms of numbers of successful projects but in terms of the quality and novelty demonstrated by these projects as well.I was at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), USA becoming Chief of the Genetics Branch. I have been recognized as a leader in the study of genetic instability in cancer. I used the cloning and characterization of cancer-associated chromosomal aberrations as a tool for gene discovery. I pioneered the use of assays of genetic instability as biomarkers for cancer risk. I provided the biomedical community with critical research and clinical tools, a conceptual framing (genetic instability in the NCI-60 drug screening panel) and reagents (the CCAP BAC clone set). I established a CLIA-approved laboratory for microsatellite instability testing and a clinical cancer genetics program. I am a physician who is Board Certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. I have been an advocate for forward-looking drug development, championing innovative and high impact interventions. I have shepherded the progression of new therapeutics including the first two antibody-drug conjugates developed by Amgen, the first Amgen drug mediating enhanced antibody-dependent cell mediated cytotoxicity, a small molecule inhibitor of protein-protein interaction, and a therapeutic that disrupts tumor-stromal interaction.Specialties: Drug Discovery and DevelopmentMolecular Genetics Oncology
