My work focuses on helping entrepreneurs succeed.I’m a Managing Partner of Silicon Valley’s most active seed venture capital firm, 500 Startups. The firm has done over 1,600 investments in 50 countries, of which I’ve led 120+ investments in Southeast Asian tech startups, including Grab, Carousell, Bukalapak and other regional champions.I draw from my prior experience as an entrepreneur, where I founded an e-commerce site, Groupsmore (acquired by Groupon) and media company, SAYS.com (acquired by Catcha Group). As every industry continues to be disrupted by new technology and evolving consumer behavior, I love looking for patterns of business opportunity and investing in entrepreneurs who will realize them. My investment activity and industry opinions are featured by Bloomberg, TechCrunch, Wall Street Journal, and Fortune, and the 500 Startups portfolio of companies have collectively raised over USD$10 billion.I was born and raised in Malaysia, started building web products at age 15, started building companies at 24.
