Led the signature widely-acclaimed personalized and contextual flagship smartphone experiences, as well as underlying Context Platform and Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. * Google mobile engineering (4 yrs): Director reporting to SVP. Led all eng effort for search ads shown on mobile. Grew revenue ~10x to $xB in 2 yrs, and the team ~15x in 2 sites. Previously also led mobile display ads, reporting to VP; grew revenue ~10x to $xxxM in 2.5 yrs. * Google mobile engineering (3 yrs): Eng Manager. Founded Location Based Services (LBS) platform behind Google’s innovative My Location service. Led mobile search solution launched to over 30 mobile carriers, incl KDDI and Vodafone. Research in mobile web structure, traffic, and machine learning. * Google: Won 4 top company-wide awards for impact and innovation. * NTT DoCoMo (3 yrs): VP, Network Lab. Created world-class mobile networking and security research group. Design of 4G all-IP core cellular network for mobility, QoS, and security. * Telcordia applied research (10 yrs): Director. Created R&D group on wireless networking, programmable networks, and middleware. Transferred research to AirBoss and ISCP products. Formed and led JAIN and Parlay telecom standards working groups on next-gen call control, service creation and XML scripting. External research funding > $1.5M. * 70+ peer-reviewed papers, 3 books. Editorial board of 3 technical journals. Chair of numerous research conferences.
