I am an engineering focussed manager with strong technical skills who is able to code, manage engineers and liaise between engineers and non-technical people. I have deep knowledge of building RESTful HTTP APIs from gathering initial specification requirements through to implementation and deployment. This includes liaising with key stakeholders, building teams, reviewing work, mentoring team members, evaluating technologies and solutions and working with customers to help integrate, design and troubleshoot. In the last ten years I have focussed a large portion of my career around providing solutions for financial systems and have a deep understanding of how to create systems that are able to handle concurrent requests, are reconcilable and are able to recover from catastrophic events. Most of my career has been spent working at small companies with less than three hundred employees, I am looking to continue in a role that includes day to day technical hands on work, my primary passion is engineering and I love to be able to write code as well as work with people. During my career I’ve focussed myself on highly-available systems that have processed billions of dollars spread across millions of transactions that have had strict uptime and code quality requirements. When it comes to building these systems I have knowledge from the dashboards that sit at the front end and allow end users to interact, through the backend which accepts and processes requests, through to the infrastructure that these systems run on. I believe in leveraging code and process to allow technical teams to achieve efficiency and strive to build teams that enjoy autonomy and have the ability to build products that meet their intended goals.
