Responsible for the overall management of the University’s systemwide insurance program that includes Employment Practices, Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Auto, Property, Construction, Hospital Professional Liability, and other ancillary/special coverage's. These programs insure over 200,000 employees, 250,000 students, countless visitors & medical patients, and $50B in property value across ten campuses, five medical centers, a national laboratory and the Office of the President. Includes both domestic and international insurance placement, maintaining compliance with applicable policies, laws and regulations, ensuring high quality service, and efficient, effective financial and claim administration operations. Responsible for the financial management of these programs including budget, actuarial evaluation, cost allocation, forecasting, and determination of program financial status. Provides program and claim statistical reports, conducts evaluation and analysis, and identifies trends and implements recommendations for improvement, loss prevention and mitigation. Oversees the operations of the University’s exclusive Third Party Administrator program. Develops and implements policies and practices designed to ensure the security and financial integrity of TPA operations. Develops and monitors the budget for TPA operations. Negotiates annual operating budget with TPA and evaluates requests for budget increases or TPA staffing changes. Produces training materials and conducts presentations to various University constituents and third parties. Conducts evaluation of and provides written analyses of proposed legislation to University legislative directors, coordinators and lobbyists. Member of the University’s Captive Insurance Company, Fiat Lux, underwriting and claims committees and works closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Director.
