Post Doctoral Research Fellow in Remote Sensing
RMIT is a global university of technology and design and Australia's largest tertiary institution.
Luke Wallace’s principle research interests are focused on the acquisition and application of remotely sensed data for deriving information to improve management of forested ecosystems and natural resources. His Ph.D work has focussed on the development of low cost Unmanned Aerial Vehicle platforms, and notably the deployment of a mini-UAV LiDAR system for use with forested environments. Issues around sensor and data fusion are central to his research interests and intended future research direction. Outside of UAV orientated work Luke’s research has also included the development of innovative algorithms for processing LiDAR data acquired from full scale platforms. Luke has also worked on the development of two GIS based operational bushfire risk assessment and modelling projects within the state of Tasmania, Australia. Specialties: GIS, Inertial Navigation, LiDAR, GPS, Kalman Filtering, Stochastic Modelling.
