Born in Rimini in 1953, he earned a degree in Electrotechnical Engineering from the University of Bologna in 1977. After winning a public competition for a managerial role, the following year he began working at Ferrovie dello Stato S.p.A ,a railway company. There he held numerous roles , including Managing Director of the Technological Development Division (1993); CEO of Metropolis S.p.a., the real estate company (1994); and Managing Director of the “Rolling Stock and Locomotion” Division (1996). In 2001, he became CEO of RFI, and five years later was appointed CEO of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane S.p.a.,the group holding The Italian High Speed Rail System and the Frecciarossa train service , are just two of the numerous projects brought to completion in his eight-year leadership, during which the Group achieved the first consolidated profit in its history; an achievement confirmed in the five years that followed. CEO and General Manager of Finmeccanica/ Leonardo S.p.A since May 2014 to May 2017. Under his leadership, the Group’s was restructured and ,in January 2016 was created a “One Company”, which was carried out through incorporation of the controlled companies: OTO Melara , WASS , AgustaWestland, Alenia Aermacchi and Selex ES . At the same time the company changed definitively its name, from Finmeccanica to Leonardo ,in January 2017. In that period the Company share value grew from 5,80 to 15,60 euros. After his appointment in Finmeccanica/Leonardo,he was nominated in March 2015 Chairman of ASD ,the european Air Space industry association and he was member of General Council of Confindustria too. As of March 2013 to june 2019, He was Chairman of the Italian Ferrovie dello Stato Foundation and, as of 2015 to 2019,He was Co-Chaiman of Italy-Japan BusinessGroup and,since June 2017, Vice Chairman of PREVINDAI, a private pension fund. As of 2016 He is member of Confindustria (General Confederation of Italian Industry)Advisory Board . As of Academic Year 2017-18 He is Adjunct Professor : at Milan Polytechnic, at Rome 2nd Universty -Tor Vergata-,at LUISS Rome University Executive MBA. As of 2018 He is Co-Founder of SACERTIS (Safe Certified Structure) and,as of 2019 Chairman of SACERTIS Technology : As of July 2021 He is CEO of PSC Group
