Dr. Edmund Rossi, Ph.D. has pursued basic research and the development of pharmaceuticals in the fields of oncology and autoimmune disease for more than 25 years. His accomplishments as a research scientist are documented in 65 peer-reviewed publications, as well as numerous posters and oral presentations at major scientific meetings including AACR, ASCO, ASH, EULAR, World Bispecific Antibody Summit, SABCS and others. His innovation is highlighted with 59 granted US patents, covering the development of the DOCK-AND-LOCK® platform method and it’s utilization to produce a variety of novel and complex biomolecules, novel therapies for autoimmune disease and cancers, development of improved production host cell lines and high-concentration protein formulations. Dr. Rossi has been closely involved with all aspects of pharmaceutical development. He was personally responsible for the conception, design and production of dozens of biological molecules. He directed the product and process development for numerous leads, including cell lines, analytical methods, cell-based assays, in-vivo studies, upstream and downstream processes and scale-up for cGMP manufacturing. In his current position as A.V.P. of Process Development and Manufacturing, Dr. Rossi heads a five-member Upstream Process Development group, the cGMP Antibody Production team comprising seven members and utilizing four production suites with bioreactor trains up to 2500-L, and also a small group of scientists to support his continuing R&D activities. Additionally, he functions as the point person for all CMC-related activities, including partnering interactions and communications with regulatory authorities. This is exemplified by his critical and multifaceted involvement in Phase III/commercial development of IMMU-132, an ADC that has received Breakthrough Designation by the FDA for TNBC.
