Kyle Scherling is an experienced front-end engineer, technical leader, and product innovator with a knack for reducing complex use cases into elegant UI’s. Leveraging a background in communication and UX design, Kyle excels at translating the data intensive requirements of today’s SaaS businesses into systems-based approaches to reasoning about presentation, interaction, and state. As an engineer, Kyle has spent the last 8+ years building SaaS for market research, providing rich video and data intensive applications for both collection and analysis of respondent input. His passion for systems has naturally led him to strive for data driven designs, functional paradigms, and reactive frameworks. He is most enthusiastic about React, viewing it as the most simple, performant, and adaptable primitive for managing browser UI runtimes. Despite preferences, he’s highly adaptable to the ever-changing technical landscape. He is passionate about design systems and has deep knowledge of the many UI/CSS frameworks. He has co-authored several shared component libraries to drive production application front-ends including tool chaining and CI/CD pipelines. As a leader, Kyle brings a collaborative approach to problem solving and an infectious passion for building great products. A huge advocate of small teams, he strives to build close-knit groups of professionals with a clear vision who are empowered to produce valuable work. He is not afraid to iterate on team structure and agile practices to continuously deliver results. Kyle is fluent in many product management methodologies and well versed in the requisite toolsets (Confluence, Jira, Pivotal) and ceremonies. As a product innovator, Kyle always has ideas. Through experience, he has honed his ability to focus on the right ideas through rapid iteration and focusing on what matters most to users. With expertise across a spectrum of UI design tools (Sketch, Abstract, Illustrator, Photoshop) and the ability to code directly, Kyle is able to conceptualize and bring to life high-fidelity, interactive prototypes from start to finish. While not a fan of the characterization, Kyle has been labeled a ‘Unicorn’ on numerous occasions for his unique combination of creative and technical skill sets.
