Ed Burke is a seasoned litigator and businessman. He is Senior Vice President at Epiq Systems. Ed works closely with Epiq’s corporate and law firm clients to create and manage high quality, cost-efficient and defensible solutions during the discovery phase of litigation, including the emerging field of technology-assisted review or 'predictive coding.' He also oversees Epiq's document review operations in Canada. Ed is an attorney with substantial litigation experience at major law firms. At Weil Gotshal & Manges, he was a member of the firm’s Complex Commercial and Intellectual Property litigation groups. He served as Joint Liaison Defense Counsel on data/electronic discovery issues in a six-year MDL RICO conspiracy class action brought by all US doctors against eight major healthcare companies. Ed co-led a team that built one of the largest litigation databases ever deployed and worked closely with the defendants’ data and damages experts. Weil’s client prevailed on summary judgment. Ed also played a lead role in the first trade secrets and copyright actions challenging the unlawful distribution of DVD encryption codes on the Internet. He has litigated cases for a broad variety of clients, including Reuters, Walmart and H&R Block. Ed is a frequent speaker and writer on a wide variety of e-discovery and litigation support issues, including:predictive coding and the role of technology in the practice of law. Ed received a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law where he was Chairman of the Moot Court Board. In a past life, he produced the Castle Rock/Columbia Pictures film 'Some Mother's Son,' starring Academy Award winner Helen Mirren, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as the Off-Broadway hit 'A Night in November.'
