Became the first-ever IT Director to earn the University's prestigious “U Make a Difference Award”, noted for exceptional leadership, ensuring projects focus on the strategic goals of the University and unparalleled ability to move the organization through complexity. Nominated by members of the Academic Office Executive Team. Tapped for a 2-year expat assignment, joined a small team sent to turnaround the struggling IT department in an upstart foreign division of a $75Bn Market Cap company. Extended and promoted twice with last position as the head of the decentralized IT department. During the total 6-year tenure, led the reshaping of culture, practices, operating model and team, fostered strong inter-company and external relationships and led delivery of a comprehensive technology plan that enabled the division to reach doubled production growth, generating over $2.2Bn in cash flow and becoming a top 5 natural gas producer in the $70Bn U.S. market. Earned three company awards and provided choice of roles upon return to Canada. Played key leadership roles in Canada’s largest publicly traded utility achieve its 3-year strategy of unlocking revenue and shareholder value through transforming into a pure play power producer in North America’s deregulated sector. Earned two leadership awards and two promotions, becoming a CIO direct report within 17 months of starting a career in corporate IT.
