Elizabeth City is located in Northeastern North Carolina on the Intrascoastal Waterway, halfway between Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks. Kim serves as the Electrical System Engineering Manager at Gibbs & Cox, Inc. Kim uses her 15 years of experience to provide solutions to complex technical problems, track projects statuses, and develop cost estimates. Prior to joining Gibbs & Cox, Kim worked as a Senior Engineer for the USCG National Security Cutter Program at Zantech IT. In this role, she was the subject matter expert (SME) for power, lighting and communication systems. Kim has held a variety of STEM related roles over the course of her career. In these roles, Kim established and managed relationships with stakeholders, developed and maintained schedules and budgets, and assisted in the development of new business opportunities. Kim is comfortable leading multi-discipline teams, translating technical requirements into action steps and ensuring projects are completed on time and under budget. One of Kim's most rewarding positions was Teen Director for the Boys and Girls Club (BGC). At the BGC, Kim developed and executed several STEM related programs by partnering with local colleges, businesses and nonprofit organizations. Kim provided oversight and day to day coordination of the Teen Program and under her leadership the program grew by 30%. Her duties also included defining and implementing measurement tools to assess program effectiveness, planning events for members, their parents and other stakeholders, writing grant proposals and supervising junior staff.
