In the role of Group Planning Manager, my remit is to establish, lead and transform cultural awareness across the McConnell Dowell Group of the importance of effective and accurate planning in the management of construction projects. A key objective is to drive value through the organisation via subject matter leadership, positive relationships, best practice, and continual improvement and ensure the group planning approach is in line with corporate objectives, and responsive to dynamic market conditions. Prior to this role, I was National Planning Manager at Downer for the Infrastructure Projects Business for almost 4 years. In doing so, I established Business specific processes to drive excellence in the Planning Function in line with the broader Group Standards and Processes. Through my experience of being a consultant and director of a project controls company for over 15 years, I have developed extensive experience across a number of key industry sectors for Contractors and Clients as well as Independent Estimators. In this role, a significant portion of our engagements were for projects in crisis and to support or undertake complex extension of time claim development and assessment some of which were required for litigation. With 20 years experience in the construction industry, I started my career as an Engineering geologist working on some of Brisbane's key infrastructure projects. Key industry sectors I have worked on through my career include High Voltage Power (Transmission and Substations), Water, Gas, Renewable Energy, Telecommunications, Defence, Commercial Developments, Road and Rail Infrastructure and Mining Development and Infrastructure.
