I am a partner at Baker & McKenzie, one of the largest international law firms in the world, where I practice global mobility and employment law. With many years of experience (including 2 1/2 years in Brussels, Belgium), I help multinational companies manage the tax, social security, employment, employee benefits, compensation and compliance aspects of their global workforce. I also chair the Firm's Chicago Compensation and Employment Law Practice Group and am a member of our regional steering committee, which involves setting and overseeing the strategy for the group. I enjoy speaking before professional organizations around the world and writing articles on international employment law, tax, payroll, equity awards, executive compensation and benefits issues. I have authored chapters in The BNA International Human Resources Guide, as well as numerous articles for The Journal of Corporation Taxation and other publications. I wrote a book, US Employees Abroad and recently coauthored "Moving Target: The New Age of International Assignments and the Rise of the Accidental Expat." I am a member of the International Fiscal Association ("IFA"), Society for Human Resource Management ("SHRM"), Forum for Expatriate Management ("FEM"), Human Resources Management Association of Chicago ("HRMAC"), American Bar Association ("ABA"), Chicago Bar Association ("CBA"), Illinois State Bar Association ("ISBA"), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants ("AICPA"), and the Illinois CPA Society. I have also served on the Board of Directors of the International Personnel Association ("IPA") and as a member of Worldwide ERC's ("ERC") Global Advisory Council. I am a founding member of the OneWorld International Benefits Group ("IBG"), a group of senior international benefits professionals. Finally, I am also a Certified Public Accountant.
