I am fascinated by the possibilities of seamlessly merging the benefits of the 1st mile of brand engagement (new media, mobile and the web) with the last mile of brand purchase (retail counters) and therefore had created the hybrid commerce platform called AaramShop. AaramShop is now part of Reliance's JioMart and the grand vision of bringing the benefits of digital technologies to the every independent and small merchants of India. JioMart initiative is the hybrid online to offline new commerce platform that will help connect all members of the commerce eco-system - the merchants, the brands and of course the consumers. I have been engaged in marketing of products & services for over 2.5 decades and have worked across product categories, in both B2B and B2C formats of brand marketing. Online and last mile / on-ground performances of brands are two areas of fascination and interest to me. I have worked extensively to research & create tools and methodologies to ensure that performance of brands in these two spaces can be effectively measured & then enhanced based on empirical data centered insights. As a entrepreneur I have founded a number of organizations, some of whom I have exited. My very 1st entrepreneurial venture was a marketing services agency - Sercon, which I founded and grew across Asia. Sercon was acquired by WPP. AaramShop, my next venture (now JioMart) had been awarded coveted Red Herring Global Top 100 Award for tech start-ups. (it had earlier also won the Red Herring Top 100 Asia honor) I regularly write on various aspects of marketing & lecture on the subject in B-schools. Below-the-line marketing is an area of passion and I have had the privilege of being a jury member at Cannes Lions. I am also involved with running a social initiative which imparts high quality education to the poor kids in the rural India. Our initiative “Adharshila” currently educates over 360 kids.
