Shannon Seifert was hired as CEO of the Santa Maria Valley YMCA in January 2008. She is an active member of the Y CA State Alliance. Nationally, Shannon served on the small to mid-size National Y cabinet from 2010-2013. She was on the planning committee for the 2011 small to mid-size Y conference in Clearwater, Florida. She is currently serving on the Y National Board and the Y National Membership Standards Committee from 2013-2016. She is President elect for her Rotary group in 2015/2016 and is currently serving on the board for the Women’s Fund, CALM, Rotary and is an appointed ambassador for the California Strawberry Commission. Shannon earned her AA degree from Allan Hancock College and her bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Sociology from Brandman University, CA. As a 5th generation California, Shannon is tied into her farming roots and connected to her community. She enjoys weekends at the family cabin in Big Sur, CA, wakeboarding and reading for leisure. She and her husband of 27 years, Tim, have two adult daughters, Katie and Rachel. Recent YMCA Accomplishments: In July of 2012 the Santa Maria Valley YMCA was included in its very first Y National Pilot program on Cause Driven Leadership. This specific program’s implementation has increased the YMCA’s profile in the community and State and has resulted in increased financial development and capacity for this YMCA. In November, 2013, the SMV YMCA is 1 of 4 chosen by the State of California to be part of California’s Healthy Behavior Initiative movement and is becoming a State Wide training site to help with the prevention of Childhood Obesity and encourage Healthy Living.
