Motivational Speaker, Advocate, Co Chair and Women Heart Center Cedar Sinai for Womenheart Advocacy
WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease is the nation's only patient centered organization serving the more than 43 million American women living with or at risk for heart disease - the leading cause of death in women.
My experiences with Cardiac Microvascular Disease, as a patient first are more likely to be an immediate influential force in a community that is very well denied of cardiac issues due to the cultural experiences and thought processes of the modern day woman. The face of heart disease is not one that is aged and obese, but a common ailment that plagues women from all social backgrounds. My survival alone of thirteen heart attacks is an awakening to the misunderstood mysteries of the heart and the need to aggressively study and research it's differences in women vs men. I chose to advocate because humanity and it's preservation begins first with knowledge, second with activism, and third with implementation of learned strategies of prevention. I have shared my story and educated women on risk factors, prevention, self management, and necessary changes needed to eliminate the prevalence of heart disease. I have been honored as a "Power Champion" and have done various works in the community with Womenheart, American Heart Association, Cedar Sinai Medical Center Women's Heart Center, and many others. I've been featured in various magazines, radio talk shows, and local community events. Society as a whole needs to understand the unpredictabilities of CAD and it's effect on women. I've taken my story to communities to leave an impactful impression of awareness of this form of heart disease.
