An accomplished senior engineering leader with significant strategic and operational experience in the engineering, maintenance and operation of complex electro-mechanical process’s, particularly in the field of Energy Recovery Facilities (ERF). Following a full, exciting, and varied 24-year career in the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineering Manager, I have since been involved with the operations and maintenance of ERFs at both site and regional management level, now in the role of Head of Engineering for one of the largest ERF fleets in the UK. I joined Viridor in October 2015, moving to the position of Head of Engineering in May 2016. Reporting to the Managing Director (Energy), I am responsible for the engineering, maintenance, plant availability and engineering compliance of Viridor’s facilities at Cardiff, Ardley, Peterborough, Exeter, Beddington, Dunbar, Glasgow and Runcorn 1 & 2. Viridor’s ERF team objective is to be recognised as the best performing ERF fleet in the UK. My role is to lead and manage my team of >120 Regional Managers, Plant Engineering Managers, Engineers, Technicians, Stock Controllers and Business Support staff to achieve this objective. This includes setting, reviewing and the management of maintenance budgets; whole fleet planning and scheduling of ERF outages; setting asset full lifecycle maintenance models; managing work activity ,planned maintenance and defect resolution using CMMS software systems and management of significant critical and essential stock. My team consistently challenge traditional maintenance practices to improve safety, downtime and plant availability. By collectively adopting innovative thinking, lessons learnt and best practice from all our sites, we deliver a consistent and high engineering standard across the ERF fleet.
