Dr. Nancy Lough is a nationally recognized expert on sport marketing, corporate sponsorship, leadership development and creating gender parity within sport organizations. She specializes in research with a focus on media representations of women’s sport and marketing sport to women. She is the author of the Handbook of Sport Marketing Research with Dr. Bill Sutton and over 50 scholarly publications. Dr. Lough was the first woman to serve as President of the Sport Marketing Association from 2013-2015 and she also served as the Editor for Sport Marketing Quarterly from 2010 to 2012. Currently, Dr. Lough is the Director of Marketing for the UNLV College of Education, where she holds rank as a full professor. Prior to UNLV, Dr. Lough served as a sport management faculty member at the University of New Mexico, Iowa State University and Kent State University. Dr. Lough has extensive sport experience including competing as a scholarship athlete and having worked as a collegiate coach in Texas and California, an Associate Athletic Director in Colorado, and Director of an NCAA National Championship. As an expert in sport business she has been quoted in media outlets such as the LA Times, Wall Street Journal, Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal, the Houston Chronicle and in international publications from Argentina to Canada. Dr. Lough serves on the advisory board for the Penn State Center for Sport Business and Research, as well as the PGA Golf Management program at UNLV. During the summer she leads the Business of Sport Certificate program at the University of Colorado in the Leeds School of Business. Her scholarly work has earned distinction with two publications featured in the Top 20 articles in the first 20 years of Sport Marketing Quarterly, in addition to selection as a Sport Marketing Association Research Fellow in 2015. Her goal is to bring more awareness, wisdom and compassion to sport business.
