The University of Kentucky offers a variety of education, services and research opportunities to those interested in the Appalachian Region, including courses led by notable scholars in regional studies. Faculty include the editor and book review editor of the Journal of Appalachian Studies, a former Whisman Scholar at the Appalachian Regional Commission, the former Program and Program Chair of the Appalachian Studies Association, and authors of award-winning books in the field of Appalachian Studies. Stephen is a Practice Manager at ROC UK. Stephen's experience with SAP dates back to 1998. In 2012 he took a more active role in building ROC UK's SuccessFactors capability, in addition to the Nakisa practice he has built since 2007. Stephen's strong consulting skills developed over 20 years of working in IT, 18 of which have been in consultancy, are utilised during pre-sales, blueprinting, delivery, change management, issue resolution and post go live support. Stephen has worked across many business sectors including public sector, retail, manufacturing, financial services, service, pharmaceuticals, media, distribution and IT. Since 1998, Stephen has worked for ROC UK, a specialist HCM consultancy. From 2008, ROC has expanded its global presence which has led to opportunities for him to work in mainland Europe, North & South America. Stephen's current goals in business are to continue to expand the SuccessFactors, Nakisa and Thomsons Online Benefits capabilities of ROC.Stephen is a subject matter expert on Nakisa's applications based on over 30 successful implementations of their solutions within Org and Talent Management. Within ROC, Stephen grew ROC’s capability, developing the team and fostering a close relationship with key Nakisa personnel. As a result he has been invited to speak at both SAP and Nakisa events. In Sept 2012 Stephen was invited by Nakisa to attend their first ever Partner Forum in Montreal.Stephen has been a speaker at SAP events and is currently a platinum level active contributor and blogger on SCN ( http://scn.sap.com/people/stephen.burr ), a certified SAP Technology consultant and has been PRINCE2 (2009 version) certified (Foundation and Practitioner).During his career at ROC he has gained experience in SAP OM, PA, ABAP, IDocs, SAP JCo, Enterprise Portal, SuccessFactors, Hunite and Umantis (Talent Management SaaS).
