Senior Politics + Society Editor
The Conversation US specializes in job board, event listing, and newsletter sponsorship.
Words are my passion and the center of my working life. For the past seven years, I've had the privilege of working for The Conversation US in a variety of newsroom roles with increasing responsibility. Beginning just six months after the site launched in October 2015, I have worked with a team of talented colleagues to grow its staff and influence. In 2021, our content attracted more than 215 million readers. In 2022, that was up to 240 million. In my current role as managing editor, I work daily with our 21 editors to shape our coverage, searching for the sweet spot where academic expertise can help explain what's happening in the news. One of the best parts of my role is encouraging our editors to think creatively about their beats and ways to innovate within our model. I am always working to improve the ways we brainstorm ideas and push our boundaries. I have been involved with partnerships with other media organizations including the Associated Press, OnPoint, Religion News Service and The Chronicle of Philanthropy. As a side gig, I'm researching digital startups, especially ones located in news deserts. I'm exploring how their value is perceived by community members.
