Katherine is a multi-disciplinary C-Suite executive managing all Legal, Compliance, Human Resources, and Environmental, Sustainability and Governance (ESG) matters for SunCoke Energy, Inc. (NYSE: SXC). SunCoke is a public company that provides high-quality coke and energy to steel manufacturers, as well as logistics services for several industries. She has extensive experience in the environmental field and leads the Company’s Environmental department as well as its ESG program. She is also head of the COVID-19 Task Force, establishing safety protocols for an essential business and managing all aspects of the pandemic’s effect on the business. In her roles as Chief Legal Officer (CLO) (formerly General Counsel), Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), Katherine is a trusted advisor to both the CEO and the Board of Directors, and her deep understanding of the business aids in providing advice on the Company’s strategy and other business matters. In her CLO and CCO roles, Katherine manages all legal matters, including commercial contracts, litigation, regulatory and compliance programs, government negotiations, corporate governance, M&A and strategic planning. As CHRO, she oversees compensation, benefits, and all aspects of personnel management for a union and non-union workforce. Katherine has been practicing for two decades. Prior to joining SunCoke, she was a partner in the law firm of Beveridge & Diamond, where she served for periods as the Co-Chair of the Civil Litigation Practice Group and a member of the Management Committee.
