Eng Mechanical Engineering from McGill University (1987) and an MBA with distinction from the Harvard Business School (1995). Erik joined SNC-Lavalin as Executive Vice President Strategy, Marketing and External Relations in Nov 2013. Member of the Executive Committee of a century old public company, he works with his colleagues at developing and accelerating the growth of the company within a consolidating industry. Prior, he joined Alcan Inc. in Sep 2002 as Director, Strategic Management Support. In 2003, he was part of the Pechiney acquisition team and then co-lead the Alcan-Pechiney Integration Team. In Jan 2005, Erik was appointed Vice-President, Corporate Affairs and Communications, Alcan Primary Metal Group. In 2007, Regional Industrial Diversification and an aerospace and nuclear alloys casting plant were added to his responsibilities as he became Vice-President, Stakeholder Relations and Communications. In Feb 2009, Erik became senior Vice-President, Communications and External Relations Rio Tinto Alcan globally, also responsible for selected Business Development projects. Prior to joining Alcan, Mr. Ryan was Secretary General of the Sommet de Montreal 2002 . From 1995 to 2001, Mr. Ryan worked as strategy consultant for Monitor Company, based out of Boston, Paris and then Toronto. From 1989 to 1993, he served as political adviser to Gérald Tremblay, then Quebec’s Minister of Industry. Mr. Ryan began his career with Andersen Consulting in Jan 1987. Erik is very active in numerous business and charitable organizations.
