Skipton Building Society is a financial services company that specializes in financial advice, legacy planning, and insurance.

Commercially focused and strategically minded leader, with extensive experience of operating at executive director level across a number of disciplines and as a non executive director across a range of financial services businesses, including an offshore bank. Having retired as a member of the Executive Committee of Skipton Building Society, with responsibility for oversight of Financial Risk and for the development and implementation of Data Strategy, I am seeking opportunities to pursue non executive, consulting and advisory positions with businesses that would benefit from my commercial, risk and leadership insight and experience. Non executive responsibilities include directorships of Skipton International Ltd, Skipton Business Finance, Amber Home Loans, and North Yorkshire Mortgages. Having joined Skipton in March 2011 as Finance and Strategy Director for the Mortgage and Savings Division of the Group, I was appointed to the Executive Committee of the Group in 2015, to take responsibility for oversight of Capital Planning, Credit Risk, Risk Modelling, Market and Liquidity Risk, Stress Testing, and for the Development and Implementation of our Society wide Data Strategy. During my tenure with the Group, the Group has seen profitability grow tenfold, from a group profit of £25m in 2010, to a group profit of £272m in 2021, with the Society also delivering exceptional customer service scores, and recently rated the 2nd best large company, and 2nd best financial services company in the Times top 100 best companies to work for. In addition, Skipton International and Skipton Business Finance have seen profitability increase by 400% and 250% respectively during my tenure as a non executive director with them. Prior to joining Skipton, I successfully setup and ran a consultancy business for two years working with a diverse range of businesses, including an IT distributor business, a high tech medical business, and a number of manufacturing businesses, to identify and implement opportunities to improve their profitability. The opportunity to create and run my own business had been an ambition for a number of years following a varied and successful career with a number of successful blue chip business such as RBS, Compaq Computers, Schlumberger, and IBM, as I developed my career in a broad range of management accounting and leadership roles, including Finance Director, Head of Cost Management and Head of Decision Support.
