Neville Jackson has spent nearly 40 years in Industrial R&D, primarily in transport and energy systems at Ricardo plc where he was Chief Technology & Innovation Officer from 2009 to 20019. He has co-ordinated and authored a wide range of technology roadmaps at National and European level, defining the potential, and technology pathways for transport energy, propulsion systems, future vehicle electrical/electronic architectures and digitalisation/virtual product development. He is currently Chairman of the Royal Automobile Club Foundation, a Non-Executive Director of the UK Advanced Propulsion Centre, Chair of the UK Automotive Council Strategy Group, a member of the Royal Academy of Engineering Research Committee and a member of the Steering Group for the UK Electric Vehicle Energy Taskforce. His career included 37 years at Ricardo focused on research and technology demonstration programmes covering advanced combustion engines, hybrid systems and energy recovery technologies. He has produced over 150 technical papers, keynote presentations or invited lectures in the US, Europe and the Far East. He is a graduate of Imperial College, London, has an Honorary Doctorate from City University and is currently a Visiting Professor at the University of Brighton. He was a founder board member of the European Automotive Research Partners Association and Vice Chairman from 2002 to 2008. He was also an elected Vice Chairman of the European Road Transport Research Advisory Council (ERTRAC) from 2009 to 2019 which is focused on the future vision of European road transport and the priority areas for the Framework R&D support programme. He was also a member of the advisory board for the European Green Vehicle Initiative.
