Rex Senior Health Center is offering a free prostate screening on Saturday, September 25 from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm at its facility located in Southeast Raleigh at 512 East Davie Street (near Chavis Way). The American Cancer Society recommends that men over age 50 have an annual prostate health check-up. African-Americans, Hispanics or those who have a family a history of prostate cancer should be screened beginning at age 45. As part of the recommended annual check-up, Rex Senior Health Center physicians will provide a digital rectal exam (DRE) and blood test (PSA). At last year's event, more than 300 men were screened and in years past, several individuals have tested positive for prostate cancer. The annual prostate cancer screening is funded by the Rex Classic. To schedule an exam, call the Rex Screening Hotline at (919) 784-2345. Early detection is the key!
