Rathbones is a financial services company which specializes in discretionary investment management, charity investment management, ethical investment management.

Following an early military career, Philip enjoyed a 24-year investment banking and private banking career with Barclays Group, including assignments as Regional CEO of SE Asia and of South Africa, and as Head of Strategy & Corporate Development. Post Barclays, Philip has focused on the Wealth Management sector for near 20 years, serving as CEO of Fortis Private Banking, Williams de Broe and latterly the FTSE 250 listed Rathbones Brothers Plc, where he served as Chief Executive for 5 years. Philip is widely credited with leading a transformational era for Rathbones which saw AUM grow from £20bn to £48bn with a commensurate increase in market capitalisation. In 2020, Philip returned to the industry as Chief Executive of The Openwork Partnership to lead a similar growth oriented transformation. The Openwork Partnership is the UK’s largest independent network with over 4,500 financial advisers and with an enviable breadth of proposition covering Wealth Management, Mortgage and Protection services together with a unique ownership structure. In 2023, Philip moved up to the role of Executive Chairman of The Openwork Partnership signalling his long term commitment to continuing the growth of the business.
