My brief summary is: I am a native of Japan and earned BSN in the US in '91. Remained in the US and pursued various nursing positions, initially primarily in the adult critical care. One thing led to another and I landed in level lll NICU several years later. My passion for babies began. I completed graduate education in NNP track in 2002. I have enjoyed a career as a NNP at a very busy practice in Nashville, TN providing services to multiple large and mid size facilities, participating in nursing education for the region through NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E, Has served as an adjunct for Vanderbilt by precepting the NNP students or contributing by writing educational content. I crossed paths with Japanese medical and nursing community during the last 10 plus years as well. I am an active member of Advance Practice Nursing Interest Group in Japan. I was honored to Co-Edit the first comprehensive Japanese Neonatal Nursing Text book in 2013 partnering with a Japanese Neonatologists/Nurses. I have presented numerous times in Japan on various topics such as Advance Practice Nursing, Neonatal Care (various topics) and I have quite a few published articles in Japanese. I am active with the Council of International Neonatal Nurses (COINN). I have contributed to the work of COINN by conducting Neonatal Nurse Work Force research in 2013 and also by writing and translating webinar content and other selected standards for COINN, such as Late preterm and Well Term Infant care position statements, available at the COINN website. Completed DNP at Northeastern University in Boston, MA in May 2014. Always looking for new opportunities to improve the neonatal outcomes globally through quality improvement, evidence based practice, clinical research, education and more. Most newest interest is collaboration with bio-medical engineering researchers for innovation at Louisiana Tech University. The merger of the creativity in Technology and Bedside Expertise is highly stimulating and exciting.
