Danny Levy is Chief Customer Officer of the MBTA, where she directs the Customer Experience at one of the oldest public transportation systems in the nation. Levy plays a critical role in the MBTA’s $8 billion modernization and improvement initiative, directing public communications and managing customer expectations throughout the highly anticipated but disruptive work of replacing subway fleets, upgrading tracks and signals, reinventing the bus system to better serve changing demographics and replacing its fare collection system, all under the branding campaign “Building A Better T.” Shortly after joining the T, Levy developed the CharlieCard Access Program to make fare media more available in the neighborhoods where those who most depended upon the MBTA live and work. More than 20,000 CharlieCards have been distributed in this unique collaboration with local non-profits, municipalities and community health centers. Internally, Levy developed a workplace communications channel, leveraging online and digital resources to reach the MBTA’s 6,000+ employees. Externally, she embraced the dialogue between the MBTA and riders with a more robust and confident presence on the social media networks where MBTA riders were active, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Levy led “Ride Safer,” a campaign to educate riders and shift behavior as part of the MBTA’s commitment to public health. Prior to joining the MBTA in July 2018, Levy was Chief Marketing Officer at Massport, responsible for the comprehensive rebranding of Logan International Airport, as well as all communications and marketing for the Raymond Flynn Cruise Terminal, Worcester Regional Airport and the Port of Boston. Levy has received numerous professional accolades in her 30 years as a communications and marketing professional, including first place awards for her team in the Airports Council International-North America’s Excellence in Marketing and Communications competition and four first-place prizes for public relations excellence at the Publicity Club of New England’s 40th Annual Bell Ringer Awards. Active in the community, Levy serves on the board of directors for The BASE and the emeriti board of The Greater Boston Food Bank. She is an active member of the Boston Chapter of Links and a mentor at Mother Caroline Academy, Levy earned her BA from Boston College and her MBA from the Simmons College School of Management and is certified by the National transportation Safety Board in Crisis Communication for Transportation Professionals.
