I am a fresh doctorate degree holder in Biochemistry with a research interest in Diabetes, Obesity, Lipid Metabolism, and Cellular Signaling. I am open to postdoc or research positions in #Diabetes, #Obesity, #Lipid metabolism, and #Cellular signal transduction. I have more than five years of working experience in cell culture, transfection, cell transformation, and work with lab animals (rats). I am self-motivated with a great determination to confront new challenges. In my past and present roles, I have worked independently and also as part of a team. I have a great desire to learn new things and come up with great solutions. I have good communication and writing skills. My doctoral thesis is entitled "Exploration of Possible Anti-Obesity Activity of Urolithins." Urolithins are natural products derived from pomegranates and nuts. In this study, I established an obesity model in rats and used various biochemical and molecular biology techniques to study the anti-obesity potentials of the urolithins. I found out that urolithins A and B decreased body weight gain and attenuated several obesity-associated symptoms in addition to modifying the gut microbial population in high-fat diet-induced obese rats. I have also established lipid uptake (palmitic acid conjugated with Bovine serum albumin) models in HepG2 cells. Before this time, I worked on the prospects of using camel milk to treat type 2 diabetes. During that period, I studied camel milk's potential to activate the human insulin receptor using the Bioluminescence Resonance Energy Transfer (BRET) technique. I also studied the phosphorylation of insulin receptor downstream signaling pathways such as the ERK and AKT using Homogeneous Time-Resolved Fluorescence (HTRF) assay. We found out that camel milk could enhance insulin effectiveness on its receptor (allosteric effector) if given together with insulin, translating into a better insulin action on its receptor. On an academic setting, I have supervised the work of undergraduate (1) and master’s degree students (3). On the administrative level, since 2015, I have been a member of the management board of Al-Medinah International College, Nigeria. Al-Medinah is a private school that runs a elementary and high school and has two branches in southwestern Nigeria. Also, since 2019, I have been the leader and head of the future scholars' program, where I oversee the annual interview of 2,000+ applicants.
