Bill Hughes is chief communications officer at Pitney Bowes, responsible for media relations, employee and executive communications, and government affairs. . From 2006 to 2013, Bill was Chief Communications Officer for CA Inc, where he directed media relations, employee communications, government relations, and executive communications. He also worked closely with investor relations and marketing communications. Prior to that, Bill was SVP, Communications and Public Affairs at IMS Corporation from 2004 to 2006. Bill was VP of Corporate Media Relations for the IBM Corporation based in Armonk, NY, from March 2002 until Jan. 2004, where he was the company spokesman, directed all media and press relations, including financial and corporate communications and industry analyst relations. Bill was a member of IBM's Senior Management Group, the top 1 percent of executives. Prior to that, Bill directed all communications programs for IBM's Global Sales and Distribution, the sales force for IBM. He also held several senior level positions, including VP of Communications for IBM Asia Pacific. Based in Tokyo, Bill managed the communications for IBM Asia Pacific. Bill joined IBM in June 1996 as vice president of public relations at IBM's Personal Systems Group. Before IBM, he held several senior level positions with two public relations firms in Boston, London, and Los Angeles. He was SVP and MD of the Los Angeles office of Burson-Marsteller. In June 1995, he directed Sun Microsystems' launch of JAVA. Previously, Bill was a SVP and general manger for Shandwick Los Angeles. In 1991 he was the Managing Director of the London office for Shandwick Communications, Ltd.
