Abel Harding is the North Florida and Southeast Georgia Market President for First Horizon Bank . In this capacity, he is responsible for growing the bank's market share and managing teams and partnerships that include Business & Commercial Banking, Retail, Mortgage Lending, and Wealth Management. A long-time banker, Harding served in leadership roles with several financial institutions in North Florida. He is a former senior advisor to the mayor of Jacksonville and served as the director of communications for the City of Jacksonville. Prior to his time with the city, Harding was an award-winning columnist and reporter for the Florida Times-Union and frequently appeared on television and radio as a political commentator. He is widely quoted by media outlets on topics as diverse as downtown redevelopment and arts and culture. Harding serves as the treasurer of the board of directors for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority and as the treasurer of the board of directors of the Jacksonville Humane Society. He is also a member of the board of directors of JAX Chamber and chairs JAX BIZ, the chamber’s political action committee. He is a 2013 graduate of Leadership Florida and a graduate of Leadership Florida Cornerstone 39. In 2017, Harding was recognized by "Florida Trend" as one of Florida's "500 Most Influential Business Leaders." A 7th-generation Floridian, Harding lives in Jacksonville's historic Riverside neighborhood.
