I have developed my carreer at KPMG. I joined the firm in 1987, just comming out of high school at Instituto Panamericano, IPA. Every challenge comes with new opportunities to develop, so eventually I was favored with new responsibilities and ultimately becoming a partner in 2000. My area of experience is accounting and taxation. At KPMG I am in charge of the tax practice with more than 30 professionals in the team. Practicing at KPMG has provided me the opportunity to travel to many places of the world, from Hong Kong to New York, Melbourne Australia to Lima Peru, and this has let me understand the global nature of accounting and tax issues. When Panama decided to start the negotiation of double taxation agreements, I was honored with the role of head of the negotiations team, which provide me with the opportunity to clarify in the international forum the details of Panama's taxation system, in an effort to increase the country's competitiveness as an international financial and services center. I see the participation in professional and business associations as a mean to contribute to the community I live. In this sense, I participate in the Panamanian Institute of Accountants, the Association of Business Executives (APEDE) and more recently at the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Panama, among other associations. My main goal is to contribute to the betterment of my country and fellow citizens by means of my profession, being an ethical practitioner, providing services to international clients and letting all know the great aspects of Panama.
