Bio
The Electrology Association of Illinois (EAI) is a not for profit organization incorporated in 1939 in the state of Illinois. The state of Illinois has required electrologists to obtain a license since July 1, 2006. EAI represents needle therapists dedicated to the profession of permanent hair removal. Our main objective is to establish, maintain and promote the field of electrolysis as an allied health profession. We also enable our members to grow professionally and personally by: Providing opportunities for the exchange of experiences and opinions through discussion, study, publications and networking. Developing and promoting high standards of ethics for personal and professional conduct among electrologists. Promoting the "Standards of Practice for Electrologists" as developed by the AEA. Developing the highest standards of electrology education by providing continuing education events which conform to national CEU standards. Enabling electrologists to improve their abilities. Promote the purpose and effectiveness of electrolysis by means consistent with public interest. Promoting uniformity of regulations and standards affecting the electrolysis profession. Maintaining an effective affiliation with the AEA. EAI is affiliated with the American Electrology Association, Inc. (AEA), the largest international electrology membership organization. The AEA has provided many programs that benefit the electrologist, the profession and the consumer. Many of our members assumed the added commitment of International Board Certification, by passing a voluntary certification examination. They became Certified Professional electrologists (CPEs) and are challenged to improving their knowledge and practice through the AEA's Continuing Education and Recertification programs, which require 75 hours of approved continuing education every five years to recertify. Our members follow the Department of Health's Infection Control and Sterilization procedures which are based on the AEA's Infection Control Standards and approved by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
