As Director of Recruiting and Professional Development at Briggs and Morgan, Christi Whiting was responsible for attorney recruitment, professional development and training and retention. She managed Briggs’ summer associate, attorney orientation, associate training and mentorship, Diversity in Practice clerkship, and diversity pipeline internship programs. She was a member of Briggs' Recruiting, Professional Development and Training, Diversity, Evaluation, and Strategic Planning committees, and supported the Firm’s General Counsel. Prior to taking on her management and administration role, Christi practiced as an associate attorney at Briggs in the Public Finance and Business Litigation Sections. Christi worked closely with clients in the regulated industries of railroads, electric utilities, and telecommunications. She also gained experience representing banks in litigation matters. Her experience includes discovery, motion practice, trial, and appellate briefing in cases involving class actions, non-compete disputes, trade secret claims, wrongful death suits, complex shareholder disputes, challenges to school admissions policies, bankruptcy issues, tax laws, and severance disputes with terminated employees and executives. She is licensed to practice in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Christi earned a B.A., with a double major in sociology and legal studies, as well as a certificate in business, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She graduated with distinction and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received her law degree cum laude from the University of Minnesota, where she was a managing editor of the Minnesota Journal of Law, Science and Technology.
