Assistant Director, Environmental Safeguards Australian Aid Program

Responsible for the Australian Governments international relations, trade and development assistance programs .

• Environmental Practitioner (EIANZ CEnvP #0700) with broad international and domestic experience in environmental and social assessment, risk management and sustainability initiaitives. Key competencies: • Environmental and social safeguards: Familiar with a range of safeguard systems (World Bank, International Finance Corporation, Asian Development Bank, Equator Principles, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, United Nations) and corporate social responsibility initiatives; Development of environmental and social governance systems; compliance monitoring, audits and reporting. • Environmental assessment, planning and due diligence: Environmental, social and health impact assessments (ESHIA), management plans (ESHMP); Environmental and social due diligence; Stakeholder engagement and analysis; Phase I, II and III environmental site assessments (ESA). • Sustainability studies: Lifecycle analysis; Cost-benefit assessment; including GHG. • International development: Aid program design; Monitoring and evaluation; Project management; • Training and capacity building. • Trained Lead Auditor Integrated Management Systems (ISO14001, ISO9001, AS/NZS 4801); • Language: English (native); Mandarin - speaking, reading and writing (intermediate). • Sector experience: Infrastructure, extractives (mining, oil and gas), petrochemical, energy and power, including renewables (hydropower, wind, waste-heat to energy, biogas), natural resource management, water resource management, sanitation and hygiene, manufacturing, agriculture and rural development. • In-country experience: Australia (Cwlth, QLD), PR China, Indonesia, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam. (Remote support): Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Iraq, Laos, Myanmar, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Pacific (regional), Pakistan, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Syria, Tarawa, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Vanuatu.
