Experienced technologist focused on working with organizations that improve lives. Data integration, usability, return on investment, transparency, teaching and mentorship are my core strategies for deploying and supporting tech.I started my career in law firms, working my way up from a Systems Administrator to a Technology Director. I developed expertise in MS Office, Document Management,.CRM, Litigation Support, and IT management. By 2000, I had migrated all of a firms applications to a SQL backend and configured Outlook as a portal to documents, CRM, voice, and Intranet. In 2000, I made an intentional move to nonprofit, landing at San Francisco Goodwill. In my six years there, I revamped the retail technology, putting in point of sale and developing a custom retail reporting system. Once deployed, revenues went up 10% year over year for two years in a row, despite closing two of 17 stores. I started up e-commerce at Goodwill, writing the business plan, a two-year break-even plan, and hiring in staff. It broke even in 18 months, and went on to be the most profitable store, as well as a training program with $20/hr placements.At Earthjustice, a national environmental law firm, I moved 40 servers to a virtualized environment, deployed VOIP and video, and developed a Sharepoint intranet, dramatically improving the communications and collaboration capabilities for a company with offices from Tallahassee to Honolulu.And at Legal Services Corporation I went to the next step, forgoing virtualization for Software as a Service. I migrated a thirty-odd server setup to Office 365, Salesforce and Box. Several disjointed information management systems were merged into a portal using Salesforce, Box and Tableau.Along the way, I've blogged, presented, advised and consulted nonprofits on technology topics. I've done assessments and acting CIO work, all in service of my personal mission to help nonprofits use technology wisely to support their goals.
