He started his professional career in 1971 at IBM Germany where he worked for 20 years. Within that time, he was responsible for various positions, the first decade within commercial datacenters and the second decade in the sales force. His last position at IBM was director and branch office manager in a branch dealing with industrial customers. In June 1991 he joined DEKRA AG as director and member of the executive board with responsibility for IT and Organization throughout Europe. DEKRA is a company with 6000 employees, market leader in Europe and operates in the field of automobile safety like the German TÜV. In October 1996 he was appointed CIO at Bausparkasse Schwaebisch Hall, taking charge of the strategic information management, software development and production. The company is market leader in the home savings business in Germany, part of cooperative banking group, comparable with a building society and total assets of approx. 30 billion Dollars. In June 1999 he joined Deutsche Bank AG as Chief Technology Officer for Germany, Italy and Spain. This task includes the strategy, planning, engineering and production of the bank´s system infrastructure. After reorganization on February 2001, he was globally responsible as Chief Technology Officer for the PCAM group and became a member of the IT governance board of the bank. In January 2003 he joined IBM once again as a result of the decision by Deutsche Bank AG to outsource PCAM Infrastructure. He was appointed Vice President Service Delivery Executive for this new customer of IBM Global Services, responsible for integration and service delivery. In July 2003, he was named Vice President SO Service Delivery and Transition and in June 2004, he became Vice President, Service Delivery, Central Region. In July 2006, he was named Vice President PPP IMT Germany and was appointed as CEO to found BWI Systeme GmbH. a 100% IBM subsidiary which delivers the IBM scope for German armed forces.
