Medha is the Chief Information Security Officer and Enterprise IT Risk Officer of Columbia University and has served as the university's first CISO. She leads multiple teams of information security and risk management professionals to manage Columbia's IT Policies, Data Protection, Cybersecurity, Identity Access Management (over 1 million IDs), Enterprise IT Risk Management and Governance across Columbia’s 17 schools and 10 Global Centers. Prior to joining Columbia University, she spent nearly two decades in the financial industry across IT, security, audit and risk management functions. Medha is the 2020 recipient of the Wasserman Award (ISACA - NY), for outstanding achievement and contribution to the information systems audit, control, security, risk management, and/or governance professions. She was also recognized as the 2022 Top Global CISOs (Cyber Defense Magazine), 2022 Woman in Security (Security Magazine), 2016 Global CISO of the Year (EC-Council), 2015 and 2016 North America Information Security Executive of the Year (ISE) and a NY nominee for the 2019 CISO Breakaway Leadership award (Evanta). At Columbia, she chairs the IT Security Council, co-chairs IT Leadership Council with the CIO, serves as a governing body member on Columbia University’s compliance committee, and was previously an Advisory Board Member of the Columbia University’s Master’s of Science in Enterprise Risk Management (MSERM) Program. She holds a number of security certifications (e.g., CISA, CGEIT, CRISC, and ITIL), AMP from Columbia Business School and a B.S. from Bombay University. Medha is proud of her role as a woman in technology and strives to mentor and guide women in the profession.
