Grady Christie has 28 years of experience in the information technology field. His areas of expertise include Microsoft Visual Basic, C##, SQL Server, RPG and COBOL. He was worked on a number of different computer platforms such as Microsoft Windows, IBM AS/400, Unix and Oracle. Grady Christie has spent the last 17 years working at Central Freight Lines, a less than truckload transportation company servicing the southwestern United States. He has developed and implemented a number of critical software systems for the company. The applications include web- based programs for both internal and external users along with number of XML based web services. During this period Grady Christie has also performed extensive programming on the mainframe as well as the IBM iSeries computer. Grady Christie first began his interests in computer in his early teen years. For Christmas he received a Texas Instruments personal computer. It only had a processor and keyboard, there was no internal or external storage device (for that you needed to hook in a cassette player!) ; and the monitor was a television you connected to the back with the coaxial cable adapter. Over the years he updated a few times and beginning in the early 1990s the personal computer revolution started to take off. With Microsoft starting to take off Grady went through the usual upgrades from the 286, 386 and 486 processors and so on. During those times it was considerably cheaper to buy the individual parts and build the computer yourself instead of buying one at retail price. That was when Grady Christie first learned how computers operated and began to understand how all the components worked together. Now with laptops and tablets dominating the market it is no longer feasible to build the devices but it was a great learning experience.
