Carus is focused on the passenger shipping industry providing advanced reservations and departure control solutions that are constantly evolving to meet the ever changing operational demands of our clients. The Carus system, CarRes, is a tried and tested solution that provides the 24/7 reliability required by mission critical applications, especially when delivered as a Managed Service out of our computer centres in Europe and USA. CarRes is a Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) application designed for call-centre and web sales as well as port operations. In addition to the core functions for booking and check-in Carus provides both the hardware and software for automated check-in and boarding, routines for Customer Relationship Management and Business Intelligence (BI) as well as multiple standard interfaces utilizing web services, SOAP / XML and Unicorn. For over a decade Carus has been serving a growing client base which includes operators in the Baltic, Europe, the United States, Australia and Africa. Carus clients cover every aspect of the ferry industry and operate virtually every type of vessel proving the versatility and flexibility of CarRes.

I started out as a booking and check-in clerk at the major Baltic cruiseferry operator Viking Line in 1981. Parallell with my studies in computer science and business economics I worked at Viking Lines IT-department as systems developer. Later I got my degree as Master of Business Economics and moved on to different managerial positions within Viking Line; - Manager for the Helpdesk & Systems Registry Maintenance - Administrative Development Manager - Systems Manager I left Viking Line in 1994 working as a consultant specialzed in Project Management on the International Market. In late 1998 i started working in my own company, Carus, developing a new standard system for booking a check-in for the cruise and ferry industry. The system went live with the first customer in December 1999 and in November 2001 I sold the company to Anite Group plc, listed on the London Stock exchange. At Anite I was a member of the Managment Board with responisbility for the Transportation Business (Cruise, Ferry & Rail) and Carus traded under the Anite brand. 5 February 2008 Carus was bought back from Anite in a management buyout and is now again trading under its original name Carus and has become one of the leading suppliers of standard systems for booking and automated departure control inthe global ferry business.
