WHO AM I? Thirty years ago, I and my family were Vietnamese boat people. We survived 5 brutal attacks by Thai pirates during our terrifying journey to America. We are so SO grateful to be alive today because we were rescued by a U.S. navy ship. They gave us medical attention and food. They then led us to Indonesia where we resided for 1 year before we came to San Francisco in 1980. If it was not for them, we would all have died at sea.
