Tony Yates retired form his position as Head of Infrastructure & Operations within Information Services at Brunel University London in 2019. Tony’s career as an IT professional has seen significant periods of service across the Higher Education, Corporate and Voluntary sectors extending back some 40 years. This has included a couple of innings as Interim Director of the Computer Centre at Brunel and Head of IT for Friends of the Earth. Tony has an education background in both Engineering (Metallurgy) and Computer Science, as well as having had a keen hands-on interest in electronics from an early age. In his spare time Tony still provides IT consultancy and support to a number of voluntary sector organisations as well as continuing to pursue electronics and computing as a hobbyist.
