Over 35 years of extensive experience in disaster preparedness and disaster response in both direct command operations and higher incident command. Historical incidents include the Oklahoma City Bombing, Hurricanes Andrew and Katrina, Haitian Earthquake, Deepwater Horizon Gulf Oil Spill, and Super Storm Sandy. Experienced in all facets of emergency operations, natural disasters and man-made disasters , & emergency planning. Also have extensive command experience in hazardous materials, mass casualty, & large fire incidents. Over 25 years of homeland security experience in higher education in both the traditional and e-classrooms. Developed baccalaureate and masters degree programs in Emergency Management and Homeland Security at American Military University. Developed and taught emergency management graduate courses at the University of Florida and the University of South Florida. Served as Program Director over the Emergency and Disaster Management, Homeland Security, and Explosives-Ordinance Disposal (EOD) programs, which consisted of curriculum development, course assignments, faculty scheduling, and supervision for over 70 higher education faculty. I retired after 21 years from the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel, Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer (EPLO) assigned to the Defense Support of Civilian Authorities (DSCA) Command Cell, 1st Air Force (Air Forces Northern), Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. My Team and I were among the first mobilized in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks in 2001 and deployed as the commanding officer of an aeromedical team to two classified forward locations in the Afghanistan/Pakistan area. The Team that I commanded coordinated the medical evacuation of US and coalition combat casualties and directly supported combat search and rescue (CSAR) operations. We were awarded the Department of Defense valour “V” device for rescue and casualty evacuation operations in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region.
