Bio

Proven and passionate media professional with solid experience in communications, marketing, digital storytelling and content production. Possess strong forecasting, managerial, and strategic planning skills, as well as valuable databases of communications professionals. Excel at producing high-quality content and campaigns with limited resources. Recently named the director of marketing and communications at Spelman College, I spent the last year as the institution's marketing director responsible for campaigns associated with a presidential retirement and search, as well as the introduction and on boarding of a new leader. Previously, I edited the CASE Award-winning Web publication Inside Spelman, managed social media tools, produced collateral, and supported development campaigns as the college's associate director of publications for six years. While at Spelman, I've also advised the student newspaper staff, as well as the first collegiate Pretty Brown Girl empowerment organization, which has more than 150 chapters. I developed social media platforms for brands like Fierce For Black Women and Hands Off This Girl, a web series about sex trafficking. I've held positions at Fortune, Honey, Upscale, Heart & Soul and BET Weekend magazines. My work has appeared in Essence, Ebony, Entertainment Weekly, Vibe, Black Enterprise, Jet, People and Working Mother. I was co-owner of the public relations firm PowerFlow Media, which represented the National Black Arts Festival, NPR talent, Heart & Soul's Editorial Director Yanick Rice Lamb and a teen book festival. Having contributed to anthologies, I am the author of the novel (for teens), Can't Stop the Shine, an American Library Association Popular Paperback For Young Adults.
