He has appeared on the Forbes Midas List as a top 100 investor for 3 years and was recognized by Business Insider as one of the '19 Best Enterprise Tech Venture Capitalists.' He was featured on AlwaysOn's list of 'Power Players in the Cloud.'Matt focuses on mobile, security, rich media, cloud based services/apps, networking & storage sectors. He currently serves on the boards of Avere, Bitglass, Blue Jeans, Bluenose, Exabeam, Mist and MobileIron (Nasdaq: MOBL). Previously, Matt was on the board of Airespace (acq by Cisco), ConteXtream (acq by HP), Exablox (acquired by StorageCraft), Hadapt (acq by Teradata), Omneon (acq by Harmonic), Pertino (acq by Cradlepoint), Reconnex (acq by McAfee), Retrevo (acq by Shopzilla), Skystream (acq by Tandberg Television), SpectraLinear (acq by Silicon Labs), Spinnaker Networks (acq by Network Appliance), Summit Microelectronics (acq by Qualcomm), Swan Labs (acq by F5 Networks) and Webstacks (acq by Extreme Networks). After joining Cisco in 1992, Matt held a number of senior positions with Cisco's IOS organization & the Internet BU. He established Cisco's security and VPN strategy, situated Cisco as the leading firewall appliance, & launched the first load-balancing product.Matt has held various positions at Vertical Communications, Digital Equipment Corp, BDM Int'l, and BBN Comunications Corp. He began his career as a cryptological analyst with the U.S. Naval Security Group.Matt serves on the Advisory Board for In-Q-Tel’s Lab41 initiative, a challenge lab to address critical problems for the U.S. Intelligence Community in Big Data. He serves as a consultant to the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, which supports the DoD.
