Matthew Clark is the Director of Communications for Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland. In this role he is responsible for all communications from the Governor's office and has broad oversight of all state agency communications. Prior to joining the administration of Governor Hogan, Mr. Clark was a managing director in the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting, based in Washington, D.C. For a decade, Mr. Clark advised across a variety of industries, including renewable energy; financial services; real estate; and telecom, media and technology. Alongside considerable editorial, media relations, digital media and research expertise, he is experienced in supporting the corporate communications, public affairs, crisis communications and internal communications. Special projects in the past have included the management of internal communications for AIG’s non-U.S. employees during the financial crisis that began in September 2008. Similarly, during periods of significant change, Mr. Clark helped to manage the complex North American communications requirements of India’s Tata Group, which includes multiple brands such as TCS, Jaguar Land Rover, Tata Motors, Taj Hotels, Tetley Tea and Eight O’Clock Coffee. Other important clients in past 10 years have included Scottish Development International, Cadwalader, HSBC, Covance, AIB Capital Markets, Airtricity, Invest in America Coalition, Business Software Alliance, Internet Society, Cisco Systems, Vodafone, and Oncor.Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Clark was a freelance journalist and deputy editor at ElectricNews.net (ENN) in Dublin, Ireland, where he was twice nominated for the Irish Internet Association’s Technology Journalist of the Year award and helped ENN to take home a European Online Journalism award in 2002. Mr. Clark holds a bachelor’s in history and political science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
