Al is the Managing Partner at Interlock Capital, a community-driven startup fund that allows seasoned or aspiring angel investors to get into amazing companies within their own budget. It's not your typical fund, as his entrepreneurial mind wanted to build something unique and impactful. He's taken a bit of a journey to get there, below are the Cliff's Notes. Al made his first "life-pivot" in 1998 when he moved from the Detroit auto industry (electrical engineer + developer) to being the 2nd employee and equity owner at a San Diego startup which was later acquired. This was the beginning of his 2+ decade entrepreneurial journey. Aside from that he's also founded two companies of his own. The first was a failure but he sold the next one. He's raised money from both VCs and angels and is a graduate of both the Techstars and Founder Institute accelerator programs. His last company was Email Copilot which was acquired by Return Path and Seismic Software (a fun story for another time...) A loving wife, a son, a dog, a beach volleyball addiction, and a startup are what keep him (in)sane these days!
